Division 1. GENERALLY |
§ 12-26. Employees of district.
The fire protection district shall be under the direct supervision of a fire protection district coordinator who shall be retained by the parish president. The fire protection district coordinator shall answer directly to the parish president. Moreover, he shall possess such qualifications and have such responsibilities as set forth in the provisions of the personnel policies and procedures adopted by the parish government under Section 4-06 of its Home Rule Charter. Furthermore, all other full time employees of the fire protection district shall also be retained by the parish president upon recommendation of the coordinator. The term "full time" shall be accorded the definition envisioned by the applicable civil service law of this state, R.S. 33:2531, et seq .
The salaries and attendant employment emoluments of the full time employees of the fire protection district shall be fixed by the parish president with approval by the parish council; however, the salaries and attendant employment emoluments of the full time employees shall be paid directly by the fire protection district from the funds received by it pursuant to a dedicated ad valorem tax approved by the electorate of St. Martin Parish.
