Division 1. GENERALLY |
§ 20-120. Definitions.
The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
Charitable organization, except as provided in R.S. 4:707(C), means a nonprofit board, association, corporation, or other organization domiciled in this state and qualified with the United States Internal Revenue Service for an exemption from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (10), or (19) of the Internal Revenue Code. Except as otherwise provided in relevant state law, an auxiliary group associated with a nonprofit veterans association, which functions in a subsidiary capacity to the parent organization and exists for the benefit and enhancement of the parent organization, shall be considered part of the parent organization.
Parish means the Parish of St. Martin, its duly elected president of the parish council and/or appointed parish administrator and other representatives of the parish acting on behalf thereof.
Pull tabs means single or banded tickets or cards each with face covered to conceal one or more numbers or symbols, where one or more card or ticket in each set has been designated in advance as winner. Tickets or cards commonly known as "cherry bells" shall be construed to be pull tabs.
Senior citizen center means an organization which is sanctioned by the local council on aging, composed of a group of person 60 years of age or older whose only function is to provide amusement and diversion for its members.
