§ 24-45. Removal, sale, etc.

  • All stored or abandoned junk, wrecked or used automobiles, or motor vehicles, or any part or parts thereof, or any other junk, discarded or abandoned machinery or other metal, tin or other discarded items, found on said roads or drainage right-of-way shall be removed therefrom by the president of the parish council, or his designee, and shall be held and stored elsewhere for claiming by the owner within ten days from the date upon which publication of notice appears in the official journal of the parish. In the event of a reclaiming by the owner within said period a charge of $1.00 per day for each day of storage and the reasonable cost of removal shall be imposed. If the owner fails to claim the stored property within the period of delay provided the property shall be sold by the parish president for the best available price and after deduction for the cost of removal and storage charges the balance of the purchase price, if any, shall be paid into the general fund of the parish.
