§ 26-7. Prohibited retention of glass containers.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to retain glass containers on any right-of-way, street, sidewalk, alley, parking lot, or public property, in that area bounded on the north by Interstate 10 and west by the Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee Road and east and south by the parish line for the Sunday immediately preceding Mardi Gras Day of each calendar year.

    (b)

    The term "glass containers" shall be defined as those containers which may break when dropped, misused, or mishandled.

    (c)

    Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction shall suffer a fine of not less than $100.00 or imprisoned for not more than 90 days, or both.
