§ 28-1. Hunting with dogs.

  • (a)

    Except for a period of ten days immediately following the closing of the season for deer, it shall be unlawful for any person to hunt with dogs or to permit or allow a dog to hunt, run, chase, pursue or otherwise attempt to capture or overtake any deer at a time when the season for the hunting of deer as prescribed by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission is closed. All peace officers or agents of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission are hereby authorized and empowered to enforce the provisions of this subsection.

    (b)

    Any person wishing to hunt wild game or wild quadrupeds in the parish with the aid of a dog shall obtain a permit in writing from the sheriff and upon completion of said hunt shall notify said sheriff that the hunt is ended.
