§ 30-1. Acadiana Regional Planning Area.
Pursuant to the provisions of R.S. 33:131, there is created a regional planning area. The Acadiana Planning Commission was created in 1973 and acknowledged by multiple parishes listed in the area shown on the map attached. An organization was created to serve the parishes and municipalities within this region.
The Acadiana Planning Commission shall be created effective immediately upon adoption by the first two parishes within the Acadiana Planning Commission, as per R.S. 33:131.
For the purpose of exercising the powers and duties set forth in R.S. 33:131 through 140, inclusive, and R.S. 33:1321 through 1332, inclusive, there is to be hereby created the Acadiana Regional Planning Commission; and
Subpart F of Part IV of Chapter 1 of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, comprised of Sections 140.61 and 140.62 was enacted to expand the growth and development in urban and rural regions with the creation of state planning and development districts utilizing and expanding the purpose of the existing regional planning areas.
In accordance with Section 132C of R.S. 33:131 through 140, the governing body of this Acadiana Regional Planning Commission is hereby designated to be the Board of Directors of the Acadiana Planning Commission, Inc., an economic development district duly authorized by the State of Louisiana, and being created to replace the Evangeline Economic Development District dba Acadiana Regional Development District and to be designated by the United States Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration. It is expressly understood that the privilege to act or vote on matters coming before the Acadiana Regional Planning Commission shall be limited to the Acadiana Planning Commission, Inc. Board members who represent parishes that have adopted this section.
This amendment shall be effective in and for the Acadiana Planning Commission described above and synonymous with the State Planning and Development District #4 upon the adoption of this and four more ordinance by four more governing authority of an adjacent parish within the Acadiana Planning Commission. As and when this section becomes effective, it shall be filed, together with its accompanying map and copies of the other ordinances adopted by governing authorities, in the official office of the member units of government as per R.S. 33:131.
The St. Martin Parish Council that the Acadiana Regional Planning Commission may be expanded to include additional parishes and incorporated areas, by passage of this section.
