§ 38-130. Waterworks District No. 6.
(a)
Under and by virtue of the authority conferred by Chapter 8 of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, as amended, a waterworks district is hereby created within the parish, which waterworks district shall comprise and embrace all that territory within the following described boundaries, viz:
Commence at the point of beginning, which point is at the intersection of the centerline of U. S. Interstate 10 and the St. Martin Parish boundary line.;
Thence in an easterly direction along the centerline of Interstate 10 to its intersection with the centerline of La. Highway 31;
Thence in a southerly direction along the centerline of La. Highway 31 to its intersection with the centerline of Hilda Street;
Thence in a westerly direction along the centerline of Hilda Street to the right-of-way at the end of Hilda Street;
Thence in a southerly direction perpendicular from Hilda Street to the intersection of the centerline of Hebert Avenue and the corporate limits of the Town of Breaux Bridge;
Thence in a southwesterly direction along the centerline of Hebert Avenue following the western corporate limits of the Town of Breaux Bridge to its intersection with the centerline of Mills Highway (Louisiana Highway 94);
Thence in a southwesterly direction along the centerline of Mills Highway (Louisiana Highway 94) following the western corporate limits of the Town of Breaux Bridge to its intersection with the section line between Section 80 and Section 18 of Township 9 South - Range 5 East;
Thence in a westerly direction along the section line between Section 80 and Section 18 to its intersection with the St. Martin Parish/Lafayette Parish boundary line and the Vermilion River;
Thence in a northwesterly direction along the Vermilion River following the St. Martin Parish/Lafayette Parish boundary line in a northeasterly direction to its intersection with the centerline of Interstate 10, which is the point of beginning.
(b)
The said waterworks district shall be known and is hereby designated as "Waterworks District No. 6 of the Parish of St. Martin, State of Louisiana" (the "district"), and as thus created shall constitute a public corporation and political subdivision of the state, and shall have all the powers and privileges granted by the Constitution and statutes of this state to such subdivisions, including the authority to incur debt, to issue bonds and to levy taxes and assessments.
(c)
The domicile of the district is within the corporate limits of the district, and the board shall meet at the domicile herein designated or the parish council office in St. Martinville, Louisiana.
